
Amazon.com has beaten Apple to market by unveiling their Unbox video download service today. Amazon Unbox enables users to download movies to their computer for between $9.88 and $14.99. TV shows can also be downloaded for $1.99. The price includes both a DVD-quality video to watch on your PC or TV, and a video file optimized for compatible portable video players. The content for Amazon Unbox, comes from major studios such as 20th Century Fox and MTV. The videos are copied protected with digital rights management so that it can only be viewed on computers or portable video players that use Microsoft’s Windows Media Player.
