Samsung SGH-i607 Smartphone Coming to Cingular
Rumor has it that the Samsung SGH-i600 is coming to U.S. markets as the SGH-i607 via Cingular wireless. One drawback is the fact that this phone does not have a touch screen. I currently use a Cingular 8125 aka HTC Wizard and find the touchscreen to be a useful navigation tool.
One advantage of the SGH-i607 is it’s form factor. With measurements similar to that of the Motorola Q, this smartphone is slim and fits in your pocket without any trouble.
The SGH-i607 is a Microsoft Windows Smartphone with a ton of features including:
1.3 Megapixel camera, the phone features tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900, EDGE, HSDPA, 802.11b/g WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity. The phone also has Microsoft’s Push Mail functionality.
The Samsung SGH-i607 is powered by TI OMAP 1710 processor and runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 software. It boasts of a 2.3-inch, 65k color, 320×240 px TFT display and houses a 128MB ROM / 64MB RAM with microSD expansion slot.
It appears that the SGH-i607 will not have video calling capabilities due to Cingular marketing tactics and a lack of 3G video calling support.
