Forget Vista people. Lets talk about the next Windows Mobile. That’s right, named “Crossbow” it is due to be released publicly in the first half of 2007. The beans were accidentally spilt as usual about this release. (Don’t you think they do it on purpose to get us hyped?)
Microsoft plans to offer mobile OS updates on a yearly basis according to Microsoft senior vice president Pieter Knook. Crossbow will be tightly integrated with functionality from Microsoft Office 2007 and Communicator. Based on Windows CE 5.x, the O.S. includes some changes to the user interface including Vista looking icons and soft keys.
Watch out during the first half of 2008 because that’s when the next release of Windows Mobile is set to launch. Named “Photon”, it will be based upon Windows CE 6.0. Who knows what kind of goodies the boys at Microsoft have in store for us with that release? Lets just hope it keeps getting better.
