Ford Reveals Take Two With 2008 Mustang Bullitt

The Ford Motor Co. has finally given “Bullittheads” their latest fix, releasing all the critical details on Tuesday about the long-awaited 2008 Mustang Bullitt.

Ford’s “second tribute” to the iconic 1968 Bullitt Mustang hews carefully to the car that set a new standard for chase scenes in the Steve McQueen action flick that celebrates its 40th anniversary next year.

The new Bullitt “wears a close match to the movie car’s 1968 Highland Green paint, officially called Dark Highland Green,” Ford noted. That color will remain an “exclusive” Mustang Bullitt color, the company said. The only other exterior color choice is black. Like the movie car, which was shorn of its badging, the 2008 Mustang Bullitt stands out because of its minimalist appearance. It lacks exterior badges, scoops or spoilers. “The only visible identification is the word ‘Bullitt’ dropped into a gunsight graphic in the center of the faux gas cap on the deck lid,” Ford said.
