Samsung: Next HDTV to Offer 8x Better Resolution

However, the company has yet to begin production on the set.

A top Samsung executive says the next wave of High-Definition TVs will offer eight times the picture resolution.
That’s according to an article by The New York Times.

Scott Birnbaum, a Samsung vice president for LCD sales, says his company expects to produce displays that offer a picture resolution of 4,000 x 2,000 pixels.

Current 1080p HDTVs now deliver a picture resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

“The next wave of resolution will be 8 times the resolution of HD,” Birnbaum told the newspaper.
