It appears that a national cell phone ban for drivers may soon become a reality.
It has come down to this: Too many accidents have been caused by people using cell phones while driving. I personally have seen many drivers cause accidents or near misses because they’re too busy chatting it up with a cell phone stuck to their ear instead of paying attention to the road and other drivers around them.
Here in the Chicago area we have had a cell phone ban for years. Somehow it does not seem to be enforced too heavily because I am constantly seeing people on the phone while driving. Twenty eight states and the District of Columbia have already put a cell phone ban into effect.
If the feds have their way it will be become a national law and will be enforced in all states. Currently in Chicago the fines range from $50-$200 a ticket if you’re caught using a cell phone while driving.
Do you think a national cell phone ban will save lives?
