According to published reports, Windows XP SP3 delivered a 10% speed increase over XP SP2 and was considerably faster than Windows Vista SP1. How much faster was XP SP3 than Vista SP1? Glad you asked. Twice as fast.
That poses as question. Why the hell would you want to upgrade to Vista when XP is twice as fast and runs on everything? Good question. I wouldn’t. Those businesses that were early adopters of Vista must be kicking themselves in the pants right about now. I have never recommended Vista to my corporate clients when XP Pro does a fine job as is. Now with XP SP3 it’s even better.
Now does that make good business sense for Microsoft? Nope. Vista’s little brother is kicking it’s butt in the performance department and that’s just not how things are supposed to happen over at Microsoft. Right?
Still no word on a final release date for Windows XP SP3.
