U.S. Military using Wii Remote to operate Robot
And you thought the Wii was just for games.
According to published reports, the U.S. military is now using a Wii remote controller to assist in operating it’s PackBot military remote.
The PackBot, designed by iRobot,”Is light enough to be deployed by a single person, the rugged iRobot PackBot can lift up to 15 pounds (6.8 kg) and travel up to 5 miles per hour (8 km/h). With its interchangeable, modular payload capabilities, this robot quickly adapts to a variety of missions for warfighters and first responders.
Battle-proven and versatile, more than 1,200 PackBot robots have been delivered worldwide and are performing thousands of successful missions for military and civil defense forces.”
The Wii remote is also known to be used in some medical applications and other business applications.
