LED Lightbulb Lasts 30 Years - Uses 80 Percent Less Power
LED Lightbulb - Lasts 30 Years uses 80 Percent Less Power
You read correctly. It’s a beautiful story just in time for Earth Day. The Lighting Science Group company has developed an LED light bulb in a variety of sizes that will replace your current energy wasting light bulbs in both residential and commercial applications.
According to the manufacturer, “The new line delivers unprecedented levels of energy efficiency, light quality and output as compared with other options. The unique design optimizes the lamp’s thermal management, enabling a life of up to 50,000 hours (10-30 years). The lamps consume 80 percent less energy than conventional lighting sources, while matching light output. The company is initially targeting the estimated five billion Edison-based sockets in North America.”
Here are some amazing facts about these LED bulbs, “LED options require $738.40 less in total spending than incandescent bulbs and $72.49 less than compact fluorescent light bulbs (productdose.com). By 2025, rapid adoption of LEDs in the United States alone can eliminate a cumulative 258 million metric tons of carbon emissions, save $115 billion in total electricity costs and avoid the construction of 133 new power plants (Optoelectronics Industry Development Association). Beyond energy savings, installing an LED lamp instead of a fluorescent bulb can save approximately two to four tons of mercury from being released into the atmosphere in the United States each year (Mercury Policy Project).”
I bet you can’t wait to replace your wattage wasters with these new LED bulbs right? No problem because the LSG online store is now open. Just one thing I forgot to mention: LED bulbs start at $25 dollars per bulb and go all the way up to $115 per bulb. So get out there and save the planet, just bring your wallet.
