OpenMoko’s open source FreeRunner smartphone won’t have successors because of the slumping economy and increased competition in the mobile space.

The next device the GTA03, whose design was in constant flux, has been suspended and with it some associated layoffs were necessary. Openmoko continues to focus its attention on the FreeRunner, a device that many developers and distributors have built their business around and that has found recent additional strength in the embedded developer market.
