Aston Martin One-77 Hits 220 mph in Testing

2010-Aston-Martin-One-77-testing

Aston engineers spent last week running high-speed tests on the One-77 supercar in southern Europe—we’re supremely jealous—and managed to hit 220 mph. That makes the One-77 the fastest factory Aston ever: the V12 Vantage and DBS, for example, can “only” muster 190 mph.

Devout readers of these pages know that velocity is achieved courtesy of a 7.3-liter V-12 engine producing “at least” 700 hp. Aston had previously told us that power would be enough for a 3.5-second sprint to 60 and a top speed of about 200 mph, but it seems the Brits were being conservative.

The One-77 is still set to launch sometime in mid-2010, with production limited to just 77 cars priced at around $1.75 million each.
