A Twitter co-founder has promised that there is going to offer an official Android OS app for using this social-networking service. This follows on the heels of announcements of official iPhone and Blackberry Twitter apps.

Although Evan Williams made this commitment this week, he didn’t give any details on when the software will be released.

However, it isn’t like users have to wait for an official app to use this service on their Google Nexus One or HTC Hero: there is already wide array of Twitter-compatible software in the Android market.
