COMPUTER giant Hewlett-Packard has ousted chairwoman Patricia Dunn and is negotiating the departure of a senior lawyer and an investigator as it tries to contain a scandal over an investigation into media leaks.

The world’s second-largest personal-computer maker fired Ms Dunn at the weekend after discovering she knew more about the tactics used than previously disclosed. Kevin Hunsaker, senior counsel and director of ethics, and investigator Anthony Gentilucci were in talks to leave, a source said.

Chief executive Mark Hurd, who succeeds Ms Dunn, called aspects of the leak investigation “very disturbing to me”. He said he had failed to read a report on the snooping and had not given Ms Dunn’s investigation the oversight he should have.
