BlackBerry 8980 Exposed by the FCC

The FCC has posted on its website images and details of the BlackBerry 8980, an unannounced model from RIM. This may be a very low-cost model, as it won’t have support for 3G networks.

Exactly what RIM’s plans are for a device without support for 3G is not yet known, but it may be released in developing countries.

Getting approval from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is a necessary step before any wireless device can be used in the United States. After a product has been approved, this government agency posts the details on its website.
